Participating States

A hallmark of the PARCC consortium is state leadership and involvement. PARCC states make policy and test design decisions about their state assessment. Classroom teachers, principals, curriculum directors and other educators, as well as experts and state education agency staff from all PARCC states have actively participated in developing and implementing the PARCC assessments.

Who is participating in the PARCC tests?

In the 2016-17 school year, 10 partners are participating in the PARCC assessment system. These include seven fully-participating states (ColoradoDistrict of ColumbiaIllinois, MarylandNew Jersey, and New Mexico. In addition, the Bureau of Indian Education, Department of Defense schools, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Louisiana also are also participating at varying levels. 

PARCC states work with test vendors, states and other education entities interested in offering assessment solutions that include PARCC content.

New Participation Options

State Education leaders who make up the Governing Board of the Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) are developing new options for all states to access high quality assessments. 

The Partnership states are providing a tiered approach for the 2017-18 school year that will allow any state or other educational entities to have access to the PARCC assessments at varying levels of participation. Visit our Participation Options homepage to learn more.
